Today, was one of those days I have been waiting for since we adopted Will. In the morning, I said I was going to go for a run. Will said he wanted to ride his bike along with me. Lucas said he wanted to go too. Lucas stuck with us for the first half mile, but then decided he would rather go back to the motorhome with Jenny. Will and I hit the Nez Perce Trail, which runs in front of our campground. He rode alongside me for 3 miles. Afterwards, we celebrated with a trip to the KOA camp store where Will picked out a Powerade and Cookies and Cream candy bar. He was so proud and happy, and I couldn’t have been happier. Hopefully, this is the first of many run-bike combos.
After swimming at the KOA and dinner downtown West Yellowstone, we headed to the rodeo. There are few things the boys love more than a rodeo. Will thinks rodeo clowns are the funniest people in the world. They both love cheering on the cowboys and cowgirls. The Yellowstone Rodeo was great. It was small enough that you were close to all the action. The boys joined the other kids in a competition to catch a couple calves. Will came close to being the first to catch one, and Lucas got some official cowboy dirt on his pants when he fell during the chase.
I remember you carrying Will on many hikes. Full circle to have him on his own bike. I hope you have many, many more years of those kinds of adventures.
